Muhammad Javed has curated more than 150 exhibitions of artworks and has written articles on art and artists
Muhammad Javed is a legend artist, who graduated in Fine Art (Painting) from National College of Arts in 1962 and contributed a lot in the art-scene of Pakistan during his 6 decades of professional career. He has participated in number of group exhibitions and have several Solo Shows held in the country and abroad.
He created his individual idiom after exploring ideology of modern art and not only painted city heritage, but also delineated socio-economic, cultural and political subjects. Besides, he did innovative artworks with charcoal to document artistic travelogue of different countries. Similarly, he explored new dimensions in modern Islamic calligraphic paintings and introduced unique style.
He remained scholar at MIT-USA 1988-89 where he won First Annual Distinguished Artist Award. Later on, he also received awards from different institutions and societies. In 2023, he has been honoured with Presidentâ€™s Award for Pride of Performance in Arts (Paintings).
Due to his thought-provoking artwork, a scholar from University of the Punjab did dissertation on him and obtained MPhil degree in 2016-17. Likewise, in 2016 he was selected and included along with 39 western painters in a book published in German. In 1913, a book â€œA Man of the Arts-Muhammad Javedâ€ Edited by Dr. Shaukat Mahmood was published covering fifty years of his professional career. Another book â€œMuhammad Javed - A Versatile Artist (An Elaborated Disquisition)â€ by Shabnum Abbasi edited by Dr. Shaukat Mahmood was published in July 2021 encompassing six decades of his work and biography.
Muhammad Javed has written several research-based articles on art and artists and is known as an acclaimed writer. Also, he is famous for his valuable contribution to promote appreciation of art and literature.
